BUDD THACKER (College: Florida State University)
6'2" 278lbs. DT
Played Defensive End at Sanford High School; recruited/committed VA Tech; after a superior game in Cally Bowl, FSU signed him with a 4 star rating with Rivals.com. FSU moved him to DT, alternating Nose.
Recorded 14 tackles, 2.5 tackles for minus yardage and one sack in his first season as a Seminole (2006) in which he had extensive playing time in 9 games, starting in 2.
Played in and started 8 games in regular 2007 season ... missed middle 4 games because of fractured toe ... totaled 23 tackles including 4.5 tackles for minus yardage ... had season-high 7 tackles against Clemson and 5 tackles against Colorado ... had at least one tackle for minus yardage against Clemson, Colorado, Duke, and in FSU's victory against then-No. 2 ranked Boston College, ruining Matt Ryan's chance at the Heisman Trophy.
Started in 10 of the final 11 games in the regular 2008 season despite injuries ... at least one tackle in 9 of his 11 games played, and a season-high 4 tackles against Boston College ... at least one tackle for loss in 4 games, including a sack.
Played entire 2009 season with not fully rehabilitated shoulder injury ... beset with injuries, he played in 10 games and started 2 games ... had 5 unassisted tackles against Boston College, and a total of 5 tackles against Georgia Tech, starting in both games ... missed next 2 games due to grade 3 sprained ACL suffered in practice ... finished injury plagued season with 12 unassisted and 4 assisted tackles, totaling 16 tackles, the second best total of all DT's on FSU.
Thacker is now completely healthy for the first time in over two years, having undergone extensive rehabilitative therapy and training at St. Vincent's Performance and Training Camp in Indianapolis, Indiana for the past two months.
The results are impressive: 4.86-40; 7.09-LDrill; 225/40 reps.
For confirmation and updates from St. Vincent's contact Joe Dan: 678-314-2198.
Pro scouts will witness these skills on display at Pro Day at FSU on March 18, 2010.
Budd Thacker's agent is Chris Hammons, President of VME Sports and former Player/TeamCaptain of the Oklahoma National Championship team.
