With the draft getting closer, here at NFLHouse.com will use the scouting reports done by our scouts at the Optimum Scouting Department to give these prospects some identity other than just a ranking. Here is a look at Bryan Bulaga, a top offensive tackle prospect in this upcoming 2010 NFL Draft from Iowa.
Report thanks to Jason Bantle.
| BEST COMPARISON |
Robert Gallery |
| BEST DRAFT POSITION |
Top 5 |
| WORST DRAFT POSITION |
1st Round |
As for negatives, imposing speed is an issue for Bulaga. Wisconsin beat him pretty bad as Schofield continually got into the backfield. Brandon Graham also handled him easily. Speed DEs just dominated him and it makes me wonder if he can handle pass rushing duties necessary of a tackle at the next level especially on the left side wher he will be expected to block his QBs blindside.
He lacks some essential strength when he gets pushed back often. He was very disappointing to me when I watched him. Utilizes good hand placement though and is strong enough not to hold and won’t be penalized. The swim move kills him. I just did not see a first round pick while watching him. Has all the skills and talent to be an early pick but I thought he regressed a bit this season and was beaten too often – which could be due to his thyroid condition.
Bryan reminds people of Robert Gallery which though he was a bust must remind people that he was in fact drafted very early for a reason. Bulaga may need to move inside like Gallery as well as he is just a much better run blocker. A thyroid problem was a concern this past season and the thyroid condition will definitely be checked out by scouts. His amazing run blocking ability though will have some team nab him in round number one.
(All reports are done by each scout, and are not the sole opinion of everyone at NFLHouse.com or the Optimum Scouting Department)
