Knowshon Moreno Report
In what is being touted as a two man race for the top spot at running back, Moreno is the more overall athletic of the two (Chris Wells and Moreno). Moreno was a stud from the moment he started at Georgia from , and lived up to his high school hype. However, speed and durability issues may hinder his draft stock as well as many team’s not needing a 1st round caliber back.
Knowshon Moreno Moreno only played two full seasons (after being red-shirted) at Georgia, but didn’t lack in production. His freshman year, his first time starting since his senior year in high school in New Jersey, he carried the ball just under 250 times for 1,336 yards and 14 scores. He replicated those numbers in his sophomore year and showed even more quickness and explosion as well.

Strengths:
Usually when we think of running backs, we don’t usually look at athletic ability in terms of foot speed, vertical, and quickness. But, those are all Moreno’s best qualities. He is amazingly shifty and can dodge tacklers with his feet, evading the big hits that many backs take. Also, his receiving ability has gone almost overlooked, but that will likely be a key reason he is the 2nd back taken. He has improved as a blocker, and has shown great toughness both in blocking and his ability to take the punishment of being a back in the rugged SEC.

Weaknesses:
Moreno’s biggest knock, and a very considerable question for a running back, is that he doesn’t have great timed or game speed compared to most other running backs. He can break away from defenders when at full speed and he has decent acceleration, but his overall speed through the whole is very lackluster. Also the fact that he has carried the ball so many times in the SEC should cause concern for some teams, because of the fact he isn’t entirely built to take constant punishment.

For as athletic as he is, Moreno still has some speed question marks that will hold him from being a Top 20 pick. However, his athletic ability and college production could have many teams that pass on him on draft day kicking themselves, because Moreno may have a little LaDanion Tomlinson in him, something every team in the league wants.
