Jeremy Maclin Report
Written by Eric Galko

Usually, a receiver in college can be a big, physical, Plaxico Burress wanna-be, a small, fast, Steve Smith wanna-be, or a quick, sure handed, Anquan Boldin wanna-be. However, Jeremy Maclin has the physicality of a Burress, the elite timed and game speed of Steve Smith, and his hands are rapidly improving throughout his career and in practice. Does that make him the perfect receiver? No, but it still posses an interesting question on what makes up this very intriguing receiver.
Jeremy Maclin

Although Crabtree had record breaking and jaw-dropping stats, Maclin did alright for himself as well. In his two seasons at Missouri, he had over 2,300 yards and 22 touchdowns receiving, and also finished his career 5 return touchdowns (kick and punt returning). He finished as one of the most productive receiver in Missouri history and one of the most explosive receiver in the college game.

Strengths:
While his 40 time may indicate that it is an overstatement, Maclin's game speed rivals that of Devin Hester. He has amazing breakaway speed, both with the ball in his hand and running deep routes. Maclin also has decent size for a speed receiver at 6-0, and has the ability to go across the middle on occasion. He moves after the catch as well as his return ability make him one of the best play-makers in the draft.

Weaknesses:
Maclin's route running should scare some teams. In his time at Missouri, Maclin wasn't asked to run very specific routes, mostly just deep posts and fades. He has the foot speed and balance, but just needs to combine those as well as his foot placement to become a better route runner. His hands haven't been inconsistent, but not great either. He needs to work on bringing the ball in, but has the coordination to improve.

Maclin, as stated before, is a very interesting prospect, loaded with potential and greatness. He needs to fine-tune his overall receiver skills such as routes and hands, but has the speed, quickness, and shiftiness to be an instant success and perennial Pro Bowler. He is Top 10 worthy, but depending on where Crabtree falls along with team needs, he could be a steal for someone in the mid-1st round.
